By chasing 378 runs England set a record for the 8th highest run chase in test cricket after India’s 387 run chase against England at Chennai in 2008. But the highest run chase in test cricket is set by West Indies against mighty Steve waugh's Australia at Antigua. Australia sets the hosts a very difficult target of 418 runs to win. But in return West Indies chased that target losing 7 wickets with the help of Brian Lara’s terrific 60, Ramnaresh Sarwan, and Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s superb centuries, and finally on the final day Omari banks and vasbert Drakes useful runs. So this run chase is still the greatest and unbreakable record in test cricket so far.

After Australia’s 404 runs chase against England Headingley on 1948 this is the highest run chase on English soil. We can give this run chase credit to Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow but they are not getting the complete credit for winning as James Anderson 5 wickets in 1st innings and Captain Ben stokes 4 wickets in 2nd innings also play an important role in England’s win. Until this run chase by England, India has never lost a match if they give a target of over 350 in test cricket. We cannot say that India’s bowling was very poor. There were plenty of opportunities for India but unfortunately, we didn’t get success.
